Youth sports organizers, get ready. One of the Greater Ontario area’s most ambitious projects yet, the Ontario Sports Empire, is set to open in the Inland Empire region in late October. The city of Ontario broke ground on the project back in 2024, and now the first phase of construction on the new youth-sports complex is nearly complete. It currently comprises 190 acres with 20 long fields, 14 youth diamond fields, eight full-size diamonds, four football/rugby fields, and two championship diamonds, with additional facilities in the works. Once finished, the Ontario Sports Empire will be the largest multiuse sports complex west of the Rocky Mountains.

The facility is designed to accommodate a wide range of sports, including flag football, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and more, and to facilitate youth leagues, adult tournaments, and national-level competitions. While current facilities are built for outdoor sports, venue representatives say indoor facilities are to come in later phases.

And it’s not just for athletes—ONT Field, the region’s new ballpark, opened in April as part of the complex. Home to the Ontario Tower Buzzers, a Single-A affiliate of MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, the 6,000-seat park has several private event spaces, suites, and on-site catering for team outings. The “Classic Cookout” catering menu for groups includes burgers, all-beef hot dogs, buttered corn, potato chips, and assorted cookies. Full buyouts of the stadium also are available.

A grand opening celebration for the Ontario Sports Empire is set for Oct. 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will include a packed day of clinics, challenges, live entertainment, and meet-and-greets with professional athletes.
