Central Location Boosted Chicago to Most Popular U.S. Meetings Destination

By M+E Staff

Chicago emerged as the winner in Cvent’s Top 50 Meeting Destinations rating this year, beating previous winners Orlando and Las Vegas. To compile the list, data from more than 5,000 U.S. cities, represented on the Cvent Supplier Network, was evaluated by the meetings technology supplier. This included tracking activity through a number of unique requests for proposal received, total room nights, awarded request for proposal and room nights, percentage of qualified meeting venues and number of profile views.

“One of the stand-out trends this year is out of the destination’s control: location,” noted Bhalet Malhotra, Cvent Supplier Network vice president of sales. “Across several metrics, we have seen more booking and interest in Midwestern and other centrally located cities during the past 12 months.”

Following this trend, St. Louis moved up an impressive eight spots to number 27. Central Cities New Orleans and Nashville broke the top 10 this year, and Louisville made its debut on the Cvent list. For the full list, click here.
