Instructure, the maker of the educational software Canvas, is bringing InstructureCon 2023, back in person for the first time since 2019. Educators and edtech users will be gathering for the education technology and digital learning conference at Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado, from July 26-28.
The theme for the InstructureCon 2023 meeting in Aurora is “Making Moments” with prominent keynote speakers including Deepak Chopra, Arianna Huffington, and Dr. Jordan Nguyen and educational sessions helping bring these words alive. Over 12,000 participants attended last year’s virtual InstructureCon event.
Several Instructure leaders will be speaking, including CEO Steve Daly discussing the connective moments from Instructure’s past that have led to today. President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Ball is hosting a fireside chat with Huffington focused on the critical need for wellness and self-care to help educators address burnout. Melissa Loble, chief customer experience officer, is discussing the company’s partnership with the Francis and Dionne Najafi 100 Million Learners initiative. The goal of this program is to provide accessible business and entrepreneurship education to unemployed, underemployed, and refugee workers around the globe at no cost.
The opening night reception in the Aurora Exhibit Hall is scheduled to happen in tandem with Hack Night, an opportunity for attendees to meet with Canvas engineers, ask burning questions, and offer “a harebrained idea that you want to turn into code,” conference materials suggest. In addition, about 50 Instructure partners will be in attendance throughout the event to provide insights into the latest developments in edtech.
Both mornings begin with optional yoga, a good chance to start the day right with meals, breakout sessions and keynotes running until 6 p.m. on the first two days. The last day of the InstructureCon 2023 meeting in Aurora wraps up with the optional Unconference, an informal participant-driven meetup. Participants decide on the topics for deeper conversation and facilitate the discussions—there are no pre-planned presentations.
“At InstructureCon 2023, we’ll be focusing on moments—big and small—that make an impact,” Loble says. “These moments of celebration, accomplishment, and joy are the very reason we continue to work with educators.”
