Jeffrey Martin was recently hired as the director of sales and marketing for Monarch Mountain in Colorado.
1. What are you looking forward to in your new role as director of sales and marketing? Working with the incredible, dedicated people who make Monarch the friendly, accessible mountain that it is. (And, of course, getting to ski every day.)Â
2. How do you think your past industry experience has prepared you for this role? Because I’ve worked in both the outdoor industry and the tech industry, I have an understanding of what makes our customers tick and the technologies we need to use to reach them.Â
3. What goals do you have in mind for the destination for this year and further down the line? The mountain has made significant infrastructure improvements over the last decade to increase capacity and improve the guest experience. With that in place, my goal is to increase skier visits–while maintaining that local, everybody’s-here-to-share-a-great-mountain-experience feel that brings people to the mountain in the first place.
4. How did you get into the industry? Target marketing! My first of several conversations with the mountain began almost two years ago. So, when this position opened up, we had already developed a rapport and a level of trust. That relationship helped move things along quickly; the interval between learning about the position and accepting an offer was less than a week.Â
5. What do you enjoy most about the organization? The people; we’re really a family of kindred spirits at Monarch. Everyone here harbors a great love for living and playing in the mountains–that’s what drives our common desire to help every guest feel at home when they visit Monarch Mountain.Â
