The U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) returns to Allianz Field, home of MLS’ Minnesota United FC, in St. Paul on October 6 to face Canada in an international friendly soccer match, which will be one of four international matches to kick off U.S. Soccer’s new cycle following their thrilling FIFA World Cup 2026 run.

“When you think about playing in Minnesota, the first thing that comes to mind are the videos we have seen of the amazing atmosphere the fans create, both for Minnesota United FC and all the times the national team has played important matches there and been successful,” says the team’s Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino in a prepared statement. “For the staff, those scenes looked like they rival some of the best environments we have seen in our careers. I’m sure playing against Canada will bring even more energy to the stadium.”

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) clash against Canada kicks off at 7 p.m., with the match shown live on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, Universo, and Peacock. The game will also be carried live on radio as Westwood One Sports delivers English-language commentary while longtime partner Fútbol de Primera has the Spanish-language call. The USMNT will face Peru in Orlando, Florida (Sept. 26); Chile in St. Louis (Sept. 29); and Mexico in Glendale, Arizona (Oct. 3) prior to its trip to St. Paul.

USA and Canada will face off in Minnesota for the first time, with the Stars and Stripes holding a 3-0-0 record at Allianz. The most recent matchup for the USMNT in Minnesota was a 4-0 victory against Oman on Sept. 12, 2023.

Allianz Field has hosted seven matches overall between the U.S. Men’s and Women’s National Teams, all dominant shutout performances, with both teams outscoring their opponents for a combined total of 26-0.

The USMNT faces Canada for the first time since a 2-1 defeat in the 2025 Concacaf Nations League on March 23, 2025, in Inglewood, California. As one of the USA’s oldest foes, the history with Canada dates back over a century to 1925, when the USA fell 1-0 in Montreal, Quebec. The USMNT has an overall record of 17-12-13 in all competitions against Les Rouges.

Canada’s 2022 and 2026 World Cup appearances mark consecutive tournament berths for the rising national team, which previously only qualified in the 1986 edition. Canada’s 2026 tournament run went past the group stage before ending in the Round of 16 against Morocco.
