The Meetings Professionals International (MPI) “Meetings OutlookTM” for summer 2015 was released, showing optimism for the future of events. The report comes out every quarter and is created based on a survey sent to members and MPI’s Business Research Panel. The questions include topics such as professional outlook, and economics, to gain an idea of what the future might look like for industry professionals.
This summer’s report shows that planners are returning to focus on what attendees want, such as big names and entertainment. Not only that, but that most planners are going beyond the basic needs of an event and aiming for more.
Three points were highlighted from the report. The first is that 72 percent of those surveyed expect business conditions to improve. That number increased by seven percent from the 65 percent it was sitting at last year. The second point was that almost everyone is trying to plan for different communication styles. Only 17 percent said that when planning, they did not consider the different generations attending the events. Forty percent plan an event with the generation challenge in mind. The final point highlighted was that all types of attendance are expected to grow. Sixty-two percent of professionals expected live attendance to grow, while 57 percent of professionals expect viral attendance to rise.
