HRI Properties recently announced that the former Plymouth Building on Hennepin and South 6th Street in Minneapolis will be torn down and rebuilt into a 12-story Embassy Suites Hotel. The $110 million project is suspected to be completed in September of 2016.
The new Embassy Suites will have 290 rooms with 9,000 square feet of meeting space complete with a 3,600-square-foot ballroom. It will also have a 3,000-square foot fitness center, an indoor parking garage with over 250 spaces, an indoor pool, a main-floor bar, and 7,000 square feet of restaurant space in addition to Lyon’s Pub which will remain open during construction.

The Plymouth building was built from 1910-1911 and was originally known as the largest all reinforced concrete office building. The building’s exterior was redone in 1936 and the building was included in the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 based on its outside-of-the-box construction techniques. The Plymouth building is HRI’s 81st construction project in their 35 years of operation. HRI was founded in 1982 and has since then completed over 70 large-scale construction projects. The new Embassy Suites will be managed and owned by HRI.
