Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Southport, an upscale, resort-style hotel situated on the shore of Lake Washington in Renton, Washington, debuted in mid-July a new on-the-water group experience with a floating pickleball court. The court expands the hotel’s waterfront experiences, which include kayak, paddleboard, and Jet Ski excursions on the lake.
“With our stunning location on Lake Washington, we are thrilled to add another incredible on-the-water activity for groups,” says Tayna Zasada, director of sales, marketing, and events at Hyatt Regency Lake Washington, in a prepared statement. “Since the sport of pickleball began on Bainbridge Island, in the Seattle area, it is a great addition to our robust menu of fun and immersive group experiences, while celebrating the region.”
The hotel’s floating pickleball court provides a one-of-a-kind way to enjoy the rapidly growing sport, allowing attendees to dink and volley while surrounded by panoramic lake views. Groups can work with the hotel’s event team to coordinate friendly pickleball competitions, or single rounds of up to four players at a time.
In addition to the on-the-water group experiences, the hotel also offers curated group experiences designed to immerse attendees in the culture and creativity of the Pacific Northwest. The hotel partners with regional small businesses to offer a “Floral Creations” class where Seattle-area floral designer, Athina Balahoutis, provides hands-on workshops to create professional arrangements; private wine tastings with On Blended Knee, a premier Black-owned winery based in nearby Woodinville; paint and sip with candle-making experiences where groups work with area artist Jonarra Swanson and Noir Lux Candle Bar to make custom items; and an Italian cooking class in collaboration with Sketch of Italy, a husband-wife duo from Italy.
Hyatt Regency Lake Washington features more than 60,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including the lakefront Olympic, Lake Washington, and Mercer Terraces, as well as elegant indoor spaces including the Grand Ballroom and Lake Washington Ballroom, both showcasing floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful setting. The hotel recently debuted the new Lakeside venue, a multifunction space with three distinct areas: a sleek culinary display station, a lounge which easily converts into a breakout room with built in high-definition screen, and a reception area featuring panoramic views of the lake.
