Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook completed its property renovation project, introducing fully reimagined guest rooms and corridor spaces that reflect a refreshed interior vision rooted in Prairie-style design. Long regarded the area’s premier destination for weddings, events, business travel and family getaways, the 218-key Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook now offers an elevated guest experience in a serene, nature-forward setting. A picturesque escape situated on 88 acres of forest preserve tucked within the heart of Oak Brook just 30 minutes outside of downtown Chicago, the hotel offers a serene lakeside retreat for meetings, events, and other business stays. Designed and architected by DLR Group of Minneapolis, with engineering by Grumman|Butkus Associates of Chicago and general contracting by Elements Hospitality of Lynden, Washington, the renovation was managed by the Davidson Hospitality Group Design and Construction team, which is based in Atlanta.

The project’s completion introduces fully redesigned guestrooms that seamlessly blend the property’s rich architectural heritage with fresh, elevated touchpoints to meet the needs of the modern traveler. Original hardwood floors have been preserved, grounding each space in history, while new finishes, layered textures, and residential-inspired furnishings create an inviting and modern aesthetic. Accent mural panels featuring abstract treescapes, along with a soft green palette drawn from the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the resort’s strong connection to its lush natural backdrop. Guestroom updates also include refinished original case goods, plush seating, sculptural lighting, and refreshed bathrooms designed with soft neutral tones and thoughtfully integrated lighting to evoke a spa-like sense of calm. Corridor spaces have also been fully upgraded, featuring modern LED accent lighting integrated into built-in soffits, creating a cohesive visual journey from arrival to guestroom. Together, these enhancements deliver a seamless blend of comfort, design, and tranquility throughout the property. Inspired by the natural beauty of the surrounding brooks and wooded trails, the completed transformation reflects a design philosophy centered on renewal rather than reinvention. Originally built as a corporate-training campus, the property’s Prairie-style roots and 1980s architecture have been thoughtfully preserved and reinterpreted, resulting in a cohesive environment where heritage and modern hospitality coexist.

“Our goal was to approach this renovation as a transformation of the guest experience rather than a refresh,” says Kevin Curran, principal at DLR Group, in a prepared statement. “By preserving original architectural elements and layering in contemporary materials, textures, and lighting, we were able to create guestrooms that feel timeless, calming, and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.”

Adam Henrikson, general manager of the Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook, adds, “Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook has always offered something rare, serving as a true nature-rich escape in the heart of Oak Brook just minutes from Chicago. This renovation elevates that experience in a way that feels authentic to who we are. Every design decision was made with our guests in mind, and we’re proud to welcome them into spaces that are as beautiful as they are comfortable and ultimately to pull guests even deeper into the remarkable setting that makes this property unlike anything else.”

Hyatt Lodge Oak Brook is known for spacious accommodations and ample amenities including an expansive fitness and spa facility with an indoor pool, on-site dining including Hearth Lounge and Water’s Edge, and more than 30,000 square feet of flexible event space. With its updated design and immersive natural setting, the hotel reinforces its role as a year-round retreat for guests seeking comfort, connection, and tranquility in the Chicagoland area.
