Abilene Heritage Square launched earlier this year with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 16. The multipurpose community hub in the West Texas city is anchored by the new Abilene Public Library, Spark Science Center, and Heritage Event Center. The latter features rentable space for up to 370 attendees and is equipped with a full catering prep kitchen and audiovisual technologies. The science center is an extension of The Grace Museum, an art and history museum also in Abilene. It serves as an interactive exhibit
space focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and math.Â
Adjacent to the library is the Historic Academic Building and Owen Hall, which offers function space for 682 attendees seated and eight individual stalls certified under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additional indoor gathering rooms include the Stone Owl Classroom for up to 63 people and The Hodges Reception Area for 125. Outside, The Owl’s Courtyard is tucked between the event center and academic building, and it can be used in tandem with the event center or rented alone for smaller gatherings. The Green is across from the library and offers an open-air venue for gatherings of up to 4,000 attendees.Â
