The New Braunfels city council unanimously voted to approve the creation of a citywide tourism public improvement district (TPID) at the end of March, which will join others in several cities across Texas. The TPID will involve a 2% assessment on taxable room nights, and qualifying hotels must be located within city limits and have a minimum of five rooms. Funds collected from the TPID fees can then be used for various advertising and promotional efforts to grow hotel traffic and draw meetings and events to the city.
The New Braunfels TPID will go into effect on July 1.
