Austin’s first Kimpton property, Hotel Van Zandt, recently opened its doors and released photography to offer a look inside the new hotel designed for cultural tastemakers and world explorers.
Designer Mark Zeff and his team designed both the hotel and Geraldine’s restaurant space. The hotel’s focus on authenticity, local sourcing and the spirit of travel are apparent throughout its design, amenities and expert services. The hotel opened recently in November and is situated in Austin’s Rainey Street Historic District.
When entering, guests are greeted by horn-inspired chandeliers and a bright and spacious lobby in true Austin fashion- modern high-quality pieces mixed with edgy details. Guest can enjoy a complimentary hosted social hour in the lobby for 5:00-6:00 p.m. each evening with cold beer and margaritas. Adjacent to the lobby is Café 605, a cozy coffee shop open daily complete with adult takes on childhood sweets the Ho-Ho or egg tacos. Guests are more than welcome to grab a custom-designed bicycle from the lobby for a scenic ride through town, or on the trails of the Colorado River Wildlife Sanctuary.
Playful notes of music themed designs are scattered throughout the property along with audible musical notes. Music fills the air in every public room in the hotel, courtesy of Lauren Bucherie, the hotel’s Director of Music and Social Programming. Bucherie sets the vibe of each room with curated usic that fits not only with the décor, but the time of day. The living room provides a hidden common space for guests.
Kimpton’s mission is to authenticate each boutique hotel by borrowing aspects of its surroundings and the restaurant, Geraldine’s, is no exception. Led by executive chef Frank Mnuk, the restaurant embodies Austin’s food scene with crafted cocktails and a menu full of fresh Texas inspired fare. The establishment will also double as an entertainment venue.
Calming tones encase each guest room and suite, blended with brushed bronze and slightly worn wood with local art adorning the walls. Each room will either have a view of the city itself or gorgeous Lady Brid Lake. Hotel Van Zandt is the first Austin hotel to offer a fiber internet connection; each room has complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi along with Bluetooth speakers. Guests will also find a compliment yoga mat in every room. Pets are welcome as well.
The hotel’s 12,000 square feet of stylish event and meeting space, capable of accommodating up to 500 people, make it ideal for weddings and events.
To encourage taking an inside look, guests can take advantage of a “Sneak Peak” rate through February. Guests will receive 25% off best available rate or 30% off best available rate for stays two nights or longer, pending availability.
