Austin is investing $1.6 billion in a convention center designed to help you deliver your most memorable meetings yet. The Austin Convention Center is closed for redevelopment until spring 2029. When it reopens, you will step into a venue created to amplify your vision, energize your attendees, and strengthen your impact. Planners can secure dates now and lock in prime placement for the debut of Austin’s next convention era.

A Modern, Net Zero Carbon Venue Built for Your Future
Planners want spaces that inspire attendees and support sustainability goals. The new Austin Convention Center meets both priorities. The five-story facility will span six walkable city blocks and is designed to achieve ILFI Zero Carbon certification. Every detail reflects eco-minded design aligned with Austin’s Climate Equity Plan. The convention center supports sustainable meetings in an efficient, environmentally responsible building. Attendees will also enjoy direct access to Waterloo Greenway and Waller Creek, with shaded trails and outdoor seating that offer natural breaks between sessions.

Flexible Spaces That Spark Big Ideas
Opening ahead of Austin’s 2029 spring festivals, the expanded center will offer 620,000 square feet of rentable space, including 75,000 square feet outdoors for high-impact activations. Planners will have expansive exhibit halls, advanced meeting rooms, a signature ballroom, and vibrant prefunction areas that create standout moments. A $17.7 million investment in public art will fill the venue with creativity and immersive storytelling.

A Historic Austin Icon Returns
The restored 1855 Trask House will return to its original site to host intimate events, cultural programs, and community gatherings.

At the Heart of Downtown
With more than 15,000 hotel rooms within 1 mile, attendees will enjoy exceptional walkability and access to Austin’s most iconic districts.
